Tour Summary: Nairobi/Lake Nakuru/Kakamega/Masai Mara/Nairobi
This trip take you to Lake Nakuru National Park which is colored by a shimmering flamingo pink from thousands of the beautiful birds lining its shores. The next stop will be Kakamega Forest National Reserve which is a home to numerous species of butterflies, birds and snakes. The trip ends at the popular Masai Mara National Reserve where you will get to view the “Big Five” and many varieties of plains game.

Itinerary

Day 1
Nairobi - Lake Nakuru
Depart after your morning breakfast for Lake Nakuru National Park, which covers 180 sq km. The park is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park some years ago and you may find white rhino at the southern end. The park has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here. Full board accommodation included in the tour price and overnight at Sunbird Lodge.

WILDLIFE
  • Wildlife: Bush Pig, Duikers, Bushbuck, Clawless Otter, Mongoose, Giant Water Shrew, Squirrels, Tree Pangolin, Porcupine, Bats and Primates.
  • Birds: 330 species of which some are found nowhere else in the country. The common one being the Blue turaco.
Day 2
Lake Nakuru - Kakamega Forest National Reserve
Depart after your morning breakfast for Kakamega National Reserve. The Kakamega Forest National Reserve is situated in the Lake Victoria basin, about 50km north of Kisumu city. Being the only remnant in Kenya of the unique Guineo-Congolian forest ecosystem, the park offers unique wildlife and scenic beauty. For bird and butterfly watchers, this is the place to visit.  The forest is home to over 400 species of butterflies, about 300 bird species and 27 species of snakes. The park also supports more than 350 species of trees and 7 primate species including the endangered DeBrazza monkey, black and white colobus monkey and vervet monkey. The Potto (the world''s slowest mammal on earth), duikers and Dik diks are also found in Kakamega Forest National Reserve. Full board accommodation included in the tour price. Dinner and overnight at Lutonyi Guest Houses.
Day 3
Kakamega Forest National Reserve
After breakfast drive to Kakamega forest walk through the forest in the company of forest rangers. Early evening interaction with villagers close to the forest as you learn what the community is doing to preserve the forest. Full board accommodation included in the tour price. Dinner and overnight at Lutonyi Guest Houses.
Day 4
Kakamega Forest National Reserve - Masai Mara
Depart with picnic lunch boxes after your morning breakfast and transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve. The Reserve is administered by the local county council. It is probably the most famous and most visited reserve in Kenya. It offers breathtaking views (seen in the film ‘Out of Africa’, much of which was filmed here) an extraordinary density of animals including the “Big Five” and many varieties of plains game. Game viewing at Masai Mara National Reserve till late in the evening. Full board accommodation is included in the tour price. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge.
Day 5
Masai Mara
Enjoy your early morning and late evening game drives at Masai Mara National Reserve with your private safari land cruiser and safari guide. Full board accommodation is included in the tour price. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge.
Day 6
Masai Mara - Nairobi
Transfer after your morning breakfast for Nairobi to connect with your flight back home.
