Tarangire

Tarangire, Tanzania

The name of the park originates from the Tarangire river that crosses through the park, being the only source of water for wild animals during dry seasons. During the dry season thousands of animals migrate to the Tarangire National Park from Manyara. The park should be part of any safari in northern Tanzania.

The park is reputed to have the highest concentration of elephants in the world, something on the order of 3,000 or so. Within a few hours of driving along the park’s rugged, dusty roads, you’re likely to come across many hundreds.
